June 23 off the boat, Sint Niklaass Ghent Belgium



We got off the Cruise and headed to 

Ghent, Belgium.  On the way we stopped at one of Eldon’s favorite areas Sint Niklaas, Belgium. We arrivedin Gent and went immediately to The waffle house where we learned there were 2 types of waffles. The liege waffle that is denser, and sweeter and and coated with sugar. This is what I thought was a real  "Belgian waffle " . There is also the Brussels waffle which is what we make at home.  Flexible, stull deep pockets but not all coated with sugar and super stiff. We are staying in a huge apartment right in the pedestrian area with the castle on walking distance.

June 27 Visiting Gouda

Today we visited the Cheese Market in Gouda!. We saw a reenactment of the cheese bartering for prices and weighing of the cheese. We then walked around the city and found a super cool windmill we were able to climb up. Then we found the Lego Store.. it is VERY hot here with absolutely no rain! The Lego store had air conditioning! Then we played a little on the property where we are staying. It's quite peaceful here!

June 24 Gent Belgium

Today we explored Gravensteen Castle! It was a lot of fun and super cool. We also explored Gent and just enjoyed the scenery of the whole place. We got waffles and ice cream which were soooo yummy. Image hot waffle with crispy outsides, soft insides with warm Nutella and icecream. It seriously was amazing!! These were Liege waffles. With a sweet crisp taste.. yum!!!!!!!
